Rams and ewes cannot be mixed

If the wrong rams are mixed with the ewes, they will inevitably mate freely. This may lead to ewes' pregnancy and lambing throughout the year. This is not only unfavorable to the feeding and management of sheep, but also unfavorable to the development of the fetus. The lambs produced by the ewes have poor constitution, low overwintering ability and low survival rate. In contrast, ewes produce better lambs in spring and winter, and winter lambs are better than spring lambs. Lambs produced in winter are generally pregnant from July to August. Ewes have good sensation, strong estrus, more ovulation, high conception rate, good fetal development, and significant body size and cortex at birth. When the lamb is weaned, it just catches up with the warming of the weather and can eat grass. It has a fast growth and a high survival rate. Therefore, the rams should be kept separately from the ewes. From July to August, the rams should be selected to mate with the ewes. This will ensure that the ewes will breed lambs between December of that year and January. Improper breeding partners are usually sexually mature at 7 to 8 months of age, but are not suitable for breeding. Older sheep and sick sheep are also not suitable for breeding. Only 1.5 to 7-year-old healthy sheep are suitable for breeding. If the ram and the ewes are polycultured and freely mated, the old, the weak, the sick, and the disabled will all become pregnant, which will seriously affect the growth and development of the young ewe, as well as the elimination of the old, weak, sick, and remnants. It is not possible to make full use of the free mating of male rams, which will inevitably result in inefficient mating and redundant repeated mating. A ram can generally only bear the mating task of 15 to 20 ewes. The energy consumption of rams will shorten the useful life and cause waste. . Therefore, rams should be kept separately from ewes. During the breeding period, artificial assisted mating should be carried out. The result is that the offspring's unclear sheep are free to mate, and it is not always sure which lamb is the “father” of the lamb. It is inconvenient for the selection and breeding of the lamb, and inevitably there will be inbreeding, genetic disease, and loss of “hybrid advantage”. Influencing the ewes' normal feeding of rams and ewes together, the rams will often chase the ewes so that the sheep will not be peaceful, and the ewes will not be able to concentrate on feeding, thus affecting their growth and development.
