Chen Hao pointed out that there are five key tasks in strengthening food safety in 2011: The first is to further improve the comprehensive coordination mechanism for food safety and improve the unified disclosure system for food safety information.

The second is to implement the task of food safety rectification work, continue to carry out activities to combat the illegal addition of non-edible substances, and improve the "black list" system.

The third is to clean up and improve the national standards for food safety and to carry out food safety standards publicity, training and tracking.

Fourth, advance the establishment of a national food safety risk assessment agency, prioritize five risk assessments for lead, trans-fatty acids in food, and strengthen the early warning system and risk assessment capabilities.

Fifth, improve the investigation and handling system for major accidents in food safety and improve the capacity for emergency investigation and disposal of sudden food safety incidents.

Chen Hao also summarized the food safety work in 2010. He pointed out that in 2010, China formulated and announced 163 national food safety standards, and completed the revision of food standards such as food additives and food contaminants.
