Chronic diarrhea is a common and frequently-occurring disease of cattle and sheep. There are many therapeutic drugs, but the effects are not uniform. Over the years, the author used carbon garlic yam porridge to treat more than 100 cases of diarrhea in cattle and sheep. The curative effect is significant, and 2 cases are reported as follows. :

Case 1: On June 20, 2005, a medium-sized male yellow ox in Sangdian Town, Shuangxian County, had pudding pudding for 2 weeks, and treated it with antibiotics several times. No effect was seen. Symptoms: carcass weight loss, coarse hair disorder, lethargy, body temperature 36.6°C, loose anus, fecal incontinence, feces porridge-like, buttocks and hind limbs contaminated with faeces, unpleasant odor, soft tail without swinging ability, when lying Head extension, dry nose, sunken eye, pale mouth, weak pulse, hyperthyroidism, 117 beats per minute, weak rumen peristalsis, once/two minutes, superficial breathing, chest-like breathing, 41 times/ Minutes, molars, there are times.

The production method of chard yam porridge: take yam 1000 grams, 200 grams of charcoal, and 50 grams of garlic. The yam is first crushed into fine powder, and the cold water is transferred to the pot and put on the stove for heating. The stirring is continued to prevent sticking. After boiling for 2 minutes to 3 minutes, it is porridge-like, and the temperature is then reduced. Then the charcoal is added. Garlic was crushed and added to the pot, stirred and mixed evenly. Two doses were taken orally daily for 3 days. At the same time intravenous injection of 2000 ml sugar saline, vitamin C40 ml, 10% sodium camphorsulfonate 10 ml. On June 22th, the patient’s spirit was improved, the pulse was stronger, the heart rate was 93 beats per minute, and the breathing was deeper than before. The patient showed normal chest and abdomen breathing, 31 beats/minute, body temperature 37.8°C, no snoring, and the molars stopped. The anus shrinks, the number of stools is significantly reduced and the shape is basically formed, the tail swings freely, and can stand on its own. From the 4th day, the infusion was stopped, and the above prescription was adjusted. The garlic in the garlic yam porridge was subtracted, and the charcoal was reduced to 100 g. The rest was unchanged, and it was taken twice a day, and was even cured after 2 days.

Case 2: On January 7, 2006, out of the 81 sheep raised by a raising sheep household in Niushan Township, 5 were adult sheep and 10 young sheep had diarrhea for more than 10 days. Main clinical symptoms: depressed spirit, loss of appetite, increased thirst, heavy tongue, dry mouth, stinky limbs, cold nose, fecal odor, fecal soft water, and mucus and mucous membranes, weakened bowel sounds. The anus is loose and the bowel movements are incontinent. The eyeball subsides, the pulse is fast and weak, there are abdominal pain symptoms, and the body temperature is normal.

Take 3,000 grams of yam, 600 grams of the end of charcoal, and 250 grams of garlic. Prepare porridge using the above method. Divide into 10 equal parts of small dose, 1 part for each adult goat, 0.5 part for young sheep, 2 doses for 1 day, and 2 for continuous use. On the same day, intravenous injection of 1000 ml of sugar saline, 20 ml of vitamin C, 10 ml of 10% sodium camphorsulfonate, and half the dose of young goats were given. After 2 days of treatment, the appetite of the diseased sheep returned to normal, the tongue became lighter, the taste of the mouth was relieved, the limbs were touched, the nose was warmed, the water content of the excrement was significantly reduced, and no mucus and mucous membranes were ejected. The intestinal sounds were normal. Contraction, no symptoms of abdominal pain. On the third day, the end of charcoal and garlic were halved, and the amount of raw medicine was the same as above, and the infusion was unchanged twice a day. The next day, diarrhea ceased, and the infusion was stopped. Charcoal powder and garlic were subtracted and only the mountain porridge was fed. He recovered for 4 consecutive days.

Experience: yam in chard yam porridge, nature, Sweet. Into the lungs, spleen, kidney. With mucus, choline, etc., have liver protection, kidney spleen and stomach to help digestion function. Both Yin and Yifei, but also dampness, close astringent. Therefore, for chronic diarrhea more than the gastrointestinal dysfunction of the sick animals, given large doses of kidney cultivating the vitality of yam, can make the kidney yang to regain its spleen and yang, restore its function of absorption and promote the purpose of diarrhea. At the same time, because the yam sap is thick and boiled and stirred, the viscosity is further increased. After oral administration, it is beneficial to protect the gastrointestinal mucosa and reduce or avoid harmful substances. At the end of charcoal, it can absorb toxins and gases in the stomach and intestines to stop fermentation. Garlic is warm and Spicy, contains allicin, has the functions of removing cold, removing abdominal pain, detoxifying, bactericidal, anti-inflammatory and assisting digestion. After the three drugs have been carefully modulated and rationally combined, they have synergistic effects. Therefore, during the treatment of diarrhea, the dosage can be flexibly adjusted according to different animal types, ages, weights, physical conditions, and pathological conditions, and appropriate infusions can be used. Antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, etc. can be cured in a few days.

The principle of addition and subtraction of the garlic yam porridge prescription is: yam is mild and should be given in multiple doses. Garlic spicy, has a stimulating effect on gastrointestinal mucosa, for extremely weak spleen and stomach, body temperature is not high case, the amount should be moderate, should not be too large; and for high body temperature, good physical condition, may be appropriate to increase the dose to facilitate sterilization Detoxification. The end of charcoal is an adsorbent. When the feces has large water content and serious odor, the dosage should be increased to increase the effect of adsorbing toxins and reducing gastrointestinal irritation, so as to achieve a rapid and effective antidiarrheal effect.
