1. The working principle of laser range finder:




Laser range finder generally uses two methods to measure distance: pulse method and phase method. The process of the pulse method is as follows: the laser emitted by the range finder is reflected by the object to be measured and then received by the range finder, and the range finder simultaneously records the time of the laser round trip. Half of the product of the speed of light and the round trip time is the distance between the range finder and the object being measured. The accuracy of the pulse method for measuring distance is generally around +/- 1 meter. In addition, the measurement dead zone of such a range finder is generally about 15 meters.

At present, the working materials of the handheld laser range finder on the market mainly include the following: semiconductor lasers with working wavelengths of 905 nm and 1540 nm, and YAG lasers with operating wavelengths of 1064 nm. The wavelength of 1064 nm is harmful to human skin and eyes, especially if the eyes accidentally touch the laser of 1064 nm wavelength, the damage to the eyes may be permanent. Therefore, in foreign countries, the handheld laser range finder completely banned the laser of 1064 nm. In China, some manufacturers also produce laser range finder with 1064 nm. For the 905 nm and 1540 nm laser range finder, we call it "safe." For the 1064 nm laser range finder, because it is potentially harmful to the human body, we call it "unsafe".
