The diagnosis and control of brucellosis in cattle

Dairy cow brucellosis is an infectious zoonotic disease caused by Brucella, and it is mostly chronically harmful to cows. The main clinical manifestations of miscarriage, orchitis, tenosynovitis and arthritis, pathological features of diffuse diffuse reticuloendotheliosis and granulomatous nodules.

First, clinical symptoms

The incubation period is from 2 weeks to 6 months. Cow abortion is the main symptom of the disease, often occurs in the first 5 to 8 months of pregnancy, producing still or weak yak. In addition to the symptoms of childbirth when abortion, symptoms of genital tract infections often occur, the size of the vaginal mucous membrane of red nodules, out of gray and white sticky secretions. Tyre wear tends to stay, after the abortion continue to discharge lochia, stained gray or brown red, sustainable 2 to 3 weeks. Endometritis and mastitis often occur. Most cows only have abortions once. Bulls often suffer from orchitis or arthritis, synovitis, and sometimes the redness of the penis, swelling of the testicles and epididymis.

Second, pathological changes

The most common lesions are the changes in the uterus and fetal membrane lesions of pregnant cows. Uterine chorionic space with dirty gray or yellow odorless gel-like exudate. The chorionic membrane is reddish purple due to congestion and the surface is covered with yellow necrotic material or dirty gray pus. The fetal membrane is hypertrophic due to edema and is colloid-like infiltrated. The surface is covered with cellulose and gravy. The miscarriage of the fetus is mainly characterized by changes in sepsis, swelling of the spleen and lymph nodes, necrosis in the liver, common bronchial pneumonia in the lungs, and spot-like or linear hemorrhage under the serosa of the gastrointestinal bladder. The bull mainly developed purulent necrotic orchitis or epididymitis. The testicles were swollen and the capsules adhered to the serosal layer. Necrotic or focal lesions could be seen on the cut surface. The penis is swollen and small, hard nodules are sometimes visible on the mucosa.

Third, laboratory tests

Tested by a combination of plate agglutination test and tube agglutination test. Tiger red plate agglutination test method: The test serum and Brucella tiger red plate antigen 0.03 ml each on the glass plate to mix, at room temperature 4 to 10 minutes to show the results, the phenomenon of agglutination is a positive reaction, completely Non-agglutination is negative. Those who were tested for serum tiger red plate agglutination test were positive, and then tube agglutination test was performed. The test tube agglutination was positive. After 1 month of retesting, it was still positive, and a positive diseased cow was diagnosed.

Fourth, prevention and control measures

1. Self-cultivation

Do not introduce, purchase feed and contaminated livestock products from the affected area. Newly introduced cows must be strictly quarantined and observed for one month in isolation. Only after confirming their health can the group be gregarious; disease-free herds will be quarantined on a regular basis and diseased cattle will be immediately eliminated.

2. Strengthen management

The diseased cows with positive quarantine are isolated and reared with the same herd, managed by special personnel, regularly sterilized, and the diseased cows are strictly prohibited from flowing, avoid contact with other livestock, and are not allowed to milk and sell diseased cows. Keeping personnel to do a good job of personal protection, enter the cowshed to wear protective clothing, wear masks, change protective clothing when out, and disinfect.

3. Elimination of diseased cattle

In order to eradicate the source of infection and cut off the route of transmission, under the supervision and guidance of the anti-inspectorate, all diseased cattle that are quarantine-positive will be eliminated.

4. Strict disinfection

In order to prevent the spread of the epidemic, the pens that have been contaminated by diseased cows and the environment are thoroughly disinfected with disinfectants such as 1% disinfectant and 10% lime milk. The excretions of sick animals, aborted fetal water, feces, and litter are accumulated after disinfection. Fermentation treatment.

5. Strengthen quarantine

The cattle in the epidemic site were quarantined once a month. The positive cattle were eliminated and gradually purified to become healthy herds.

6. Regular inoculation

There are three kinds of inoculating bacterins used in China: Brucella-producing pig type 2 bacilli, bovine oral inoculation of 50 billion live bacteria, protection period of 2 years, brucellosis disease sheep type 5 bacterin, cowhide injection 250 100 million viable bacteria, 25 billion viable organisms are sterilized in indoor aerosols for a period of 1 year; S19 bacterin is used for subcutaneous injection and has a protective effect.

A Urine Test Strip or dipstick test is a basic diagnostic tool used to determine pathological changes in a patient`s urine in standard urinalysis. A standard Urine Test strip may comprise up to 10 different chemical pads or reagents which react when immersed in, and then removed from, a urine sample
